Richard Cordray

Richard Adams Cordray (born May 3, 1959) is an American lawyer and politician who was the first Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from 2012 to 2017.[1] Before to his appointment, Cordray was Ohio's Attorney General, Solicitor General, and Treasurer.

Cordray left the agency in November 2017, with many people believing that he would declare his candidacy for Governor of Ohio in the 2018 gubernatorial election.[2] He declared his candidacy in 2018 only to lose the general election to Republican Mike DeWine.
