Russia–Syria–Iran–Iraq coalition
The Russia–Syria–Iran–Iraq coalition (also called the 4+1 coalition, with Hezbollah as the "plus one") was an intelligence-sharing group formed in late September 2015. Its goal was to fight ISIS by sharing information through coordination centers in Damascus (Syria) and Baghdad (Iraq). The coalition was created after an agreement among the four countries to work together against ISIS.[1][2][3]

In October 2015, it was suggested that the Russia–Syria–Iran–Iraq alliance may have been planned during Iranian General Qasem Soleimani’s visit to Moscow in July 2015. Early on, Russia’s airstrikes in Syria were supported by Syrian forces, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, and other allied militias. The United States strongly opposed the involvement of Iran, Russia, and Hezbollah in Syria.[4][5]
Since the fall of the Fall of the Assad regime, Syria has no longer been a member of the coalition.[source?]
