Sabale Koli
The Sabale Koli (also spelled as Sable Koli,[1] Sabla Koli, Savale Koli and Savle Koli) is a clan (Gotra, Kutumb) of the Koli caste mostly found in the Indian states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.[2] Sabale Kolis were Agriculturist by profession and served in Maratha Empire and one of the Maval (fort) in Bavan Maval was under their control.[3] Sable Kolis of Maharashtra rebelled against the British rule under their Koli leader Krishna Sable and his son Maruti Sable because of the loss of their land by the British government's policies and laws.[4]
