Sigmar Gabriel
Sigmar Hartmut Gabriel (born September 12, 1959 in Goslar) is a German politician of the SPD.
He has been Vice Chancellor from 2013 to 2018 and foreign minister from 2017 to 2018. He has also been a member of the Bundestag (German parliament) since 2005.
Previously he was party chair from 2009 to 2017, federal minister of economy and energy (2013-2017), federal minister of environment, nature conservation and nuclear safety (2005-2009), and prime minister of Lower Saxony (1999-2003).
Gabriel studied politics, sociology and German at the University of Göttingen.
