Sitka (Tlingit: Sheetʼká; Russian: Ситка) is a city in Alaska, originally founded as New Archangel (Russian: Ново-Архангельск / Новоaрхангельск) by the Russian Rule between 1799 and 1867, and was the capital of Russian America.

Gajaa Héen (Old Sitka), c. 1827. The new Russian palisade atop "Castle Hill" (Noow Tlein) that surrounded the Governor's Residence had three watchtowers, armed with 32 cannons, for defense against Tlingit attacks.
