Walmart Canada is a Canadian chain of discount stores. They have headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta. They have around 403 store locations in every province and territory of Canada except Nunavut. 344 of them being supercentres and 59 being discount stores.[1] They are the Canadian subsidiary of the U.S.-based conglomerate Walmart.

On January 14, 1994, Walmart entered the Canadian market after they purchased the discount retail chain Woolco Canada and made most of the stores in Walmarts.[2] It became the second-largest retail chain in Canada after doing this.[3]

On May 8, 2015, Walmart Canada bought 13 more stores when Target Canada went bankrupt.[4] On December 20, 2022, Gonzalo Gebara was announced as the new president and CEO of Walmart Canada.[5]

Walmart Canada has been criticized for being against unionization and intimidating employees that wish to, even closing stores when employees have tried to unionize in the past.[6][7]
