The Western Meadowlark
The Western Meadowlark is a bird that lives in the middle-western United States of America. The Western Meadowlark is the state bird of Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon and Wyoming.

It's tough to spot, but in front of the Prairie smoke, there is a raised or domed clump of dead grass. The dark area near the base is the opening into the well-hidden nest of the Western meadowlark (Sturnella neglecta). Photo Credit: Krista Lundgren/USFWS
