Ahmed Abu Laban
Ahmad Abu Laban (born 1946 - 1 February 2007)[1] was the leader of an organisation called Islamic Society of Denmark.[2] In 2006, he complained about a series of cartoons that were printed in a Danish newspaper.[2] He said the cartoons, which made fun of the prophet Muhammad, were offensive to Muslims. People in Syria, Lebanon.Afghanistan and Iran protested outside Danish embassies. There were riots in Afghanistan, in which 11 people were killed.[2]
Ahmad was born in Palestine. He moved to Denmark with his family, and became a leading religious leader in the Danish Islamic community. He died in Copenhagen in 2007 from lung cancer.[1]
