August 2020 Midwest derecho
The August 2020 Midwest derecho was a strong derecho in the Midwestern United States–mostly Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana. Nebraska and Iowa were already having severe droughts at the time. The derecho caused large hail, heavy rain and tornadoes.[1]
The greatest damage happened in northern Illinois and eastern Iowa. The strongest winds took place in Iowa. They were at 126 miles per hour. Many tornadoes hit northern Illinois.
Cedar Rapids, Iowa was severely damaged by the storm.[2]
The derecho caused more than $11 billion in damage.

A seismogram in the Des Moines metropolitan area recorded intense vibrations imparted by the strong winds associated with the derecho.

A home in the Kenwood District of Cedar Rapids damaged by the winds estimated by the National Weather Service to have been 130 mph (210 km/h; 58 m/s).
Wiley Plaza on Wiley Blvd in SW Cedar Rapids 9 days after the storm. This is part of the area that sustained (in the case of a tornado) EF-3 magnitude damage.
