Flag of Malaysia
The flag of Malaysia, also known as the Stripes of Glory (Malay: Jalur Gemilang), was created in May 1950.[1][2] The flag has 14 horizontal stripes alternating red and white; in the canton, a yellow crescent and 14-point star on a blue field. In 1997, Malaysians were asked to name the flag, and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad chose the name Jalur Gemilang to symbolize the country's progress and success.
