Giya Kancheli
Giya Kancheli (Georgian: გია ყანჩელი; August 10, 1935 – October 2, 2019) was an Georgian composer.[1] After the fall of the Soviet Union he became famous as one of the composers who resisted pressure to conform to official Soviet styles of music.[2] Kancheli has composed many soundtracks for movies such as Mimino, Kin-dza-dza!, Passport, Blue Mountains, The Eccentrics, and Extraordinary Exhibition.

Kancheli died at his home in Tbilisi on October 2, 2019 at the age of 84.[3]
