Hyon Yong-chol

Hyon Yong-chol (Chosŏn'gŭl: 현영철; Hancha: 玄永哲; MR: <span title="Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Language/data/ISO 639 override' not found. transliteration" class="Unicode" style="white-space:normal; text-decoration: none">Hyŏn Yŏngch'ŏl; January 1949 – 30 April 2015[1][2][3]) was a North Korean general and politician. From June 2014 until his apparent death, he was the Defence Minister of North Korea.

On 13 May 2015, it was reported by South Korean media that he was executed on or around 30 April 2015.[4] As of May 14, 2015, North Korea has not commented on the South's claim, making Hyon's current status uncertain.[5] Later it was confirmed that he was executed.
