Jamaal Bowman
Jamaal Bowman (born April 1, 1976) is an American educator and political activist. He is the Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York's 16th congressional district since 2021.

He was the Democratic nominee in the 2020 elections for the U.S. House, defeating incumbent Eliot Engel.[1]
He is a former principal and founder of the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action, a public middle school in The Bronx.
His congressional campaign against Engel was compared to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's primary challenge against Joe Crowley. Bowman's campaign was supported by Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and the editorial board of The New York Times.[2][3] He defeated Engel in the primary.
