Jerome Ch'en

Jerome Ch'en (Chinese: 陳志讓; pinyin: Chén Zhìràng, born Ch'en Chih-jang; October 2, 1919 – June 17, 2019) was a Chinese-Canadian historian and author. He served as Chinese history professor at York University in Toronto, Ontario from 1971 to 1987. He was the director of the University of Toronto/York University Joint Centre of Asia Pacific Studies (JCAPS) between 1983 and 1985. He also taught history at the University of Leeds before moving to Canada. He was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1981. In 1984, he was named Distinguished Research Professor at York.

Ch'en was born in Chengdu, Sichuan.[1] He died in St. Catharines, Ontario on June 17, 2019. He was 99.[1]
