Rob Reiner


Robert Norman Reiner (March 6, 1947 – December 14, 2025) was an American actor, director, producer, and activist. He acted in the All in the Family television series. He directed movies, such as This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally and The Bucket List.[1]

Early life

Reiner was born to a Jewish family. He is the elder son of Carl Reiner (1922-2020) and Estelle Reiner (née Lebost, 1914-2008).[1] He was born in the Bronx, New York City. He lived in New Rochelle, New York during his childhood. When he was 13, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he attended high school and university.

Personal life

Reiner was a Democrat and attended the 2012 Democratic National Convention in support of President Barack Obama's re-election.[2]

Death

In the early hours of December 14, 2025, Reiner and his wife were stabbed to death at their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California.[3] Their bodies were reportedly found by their daughter Romy.[4] Reiner was 78 years old.[5] Their deaths are being investigated as a homicide.[3] The next day, Reiner’s son Nick, was arrested and charged for the murder of both.[6][7] The day before the murders on December 13, Rob and Nick Reiner had an argument at a Christmas party hosted by Conan O'Brien.[8] On December 17, a coroner said that Reiner and his wife died from apparent sharp force injuries.[3]
