Robert McCormick Adams Jr. (July 23, 1926 – January 27, 2018) was an American anthropologist and archaeologist. He was Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution from 1984 to 1994.[2] He has worked in both the Near East and Mesoamerica. He was best known for his research in Iraq.[3]

Adams, Jr. died on January 27, 2018 in Chula Vista, California at the age of 91.[4]
