Sandra Mason
Dame Sandra Prunella Mason, (born 17 January 1949) is a Barbadian politician, lawyer and diplomat. She was the eighth and last Governor-General of Barbados and has been the 1st and current President of Barbados since 2021.

Life and career
Sandra Mason was born on 17 January 1949 in Saint Philip, Barbados.
In 1975, she obtained a Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago. She was admitted to the bar on 10 November[1] the same year, becoming the first female member of the Barbados Bar Association.
From 1992 to 1994, Sandra Mason was the ambassador of Barbados to Venezuela, Chile, Colombia and Brazil. In 1994, she returned to Barbados and served in several judicial positions.
In January 2018, she was appointed as the Governor-General of Barbados, the representative of the monarch of Barbados.[2][3][4][5]
In 2020, Sandra Mason announced Prime Minister Mia Mottley's decision for Barbados to become a republic.
In October 2021, she was elected the 1st President of Barbados and she took her oath of office on 30 November 2021 when the monarchy was officially abolished.[6]
