Premise
The film will be a "semi-reboot" starting from the events of Jurassic World: Dominion but integrating new characters, locations and dinosaurs.[4].
Cast
On March 25, 2024, it was revealed that Scarlett Johansson was in talks to join the project after Jennifer Lawrence declined the offer to star in the film.[6]. On April 15, it was revealed that Jonathan Bailey was also negotiating to join the project[7]. On May 10, Mexican actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo joined the cast[8], along with Johansson and Bailey already officially attached to star[9]. Actors Colman Domingo and Dev Patel were also considered to join the project.[10] On May 22, British actor Rupert Friend joined the cast, describing his character as an "antagonist". [11] On May 26 the actors Richard Gadd, Joel McHale, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Tobin Bell and Mehcad Brooks join to the cast.[12] The actor Glen Powell was considered for a role in the film but he turned down the offering because, althrough the script was great [he said], felt that his presence doesn't helping to the evolution of the story.[13]
Production
Development
Following the profitability of Jurassic World: Dominion, with a budget of $165,000,000,000 USD, and an overall profit of $1,001,978,080 USD, production company Universal Pictures would rush to begin plans for a fourth installment of the franchise that would also function as a 'semi-reboot' of the franchise[4]. According to reports, the team was preparing "a new Jurassic era" of the franchise, and it was revealed that the original actors from the first two trilogies Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard would no longer be returning in this new era. The project would be overseen by Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell.[4]
On January 23 it was reported that David Koepp, original screenwriter for the first two films in the saga, Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) had joined the project as lead screenwriter.[2].
Initially the project was offered to David Leitch[14] to direct, however, after some meetings with Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall (creator of the franchise and writer of the original novel) he decided to abandon the project due to creative differences in February 2024[15]; The filmmaker later commented that:
"It's important to make sure everyone is on the same page, and that the creative vision can be carried out within the parameters set."[14].

Following Leitch's departure, the production company contacted Gareth Edwards, a British director who had already had experience on major productions such as Godzilla (2014), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and The Creator (2023), and who ended up signing on for the project. John Mathieson joined as director of photography. The film will be shot in IMAX format.[3]
Filming
The film will be shot from June 17 to October 18 at Sky Studios in London (England)[16], as well as in Khlong Nam Sai near Ao Nang, Khao Phanom Bencha National Park and Phi Phi Islands in Krabi Province (Thailand) and Malta[5] Additional footage will be filmed in Los Angeles (California).[17]
