Biography

Cristian Taraborrelli was born in Rome and started working in theater in the early 1990s. He is a talented set designer, costume designer, and director, known for his work in both experimental theater and opera.

In the early 1990s, he worked with Giorgio Barberio Corsetti and Fabio Massimo Iaquone on experimental theater projects. Taraborrelli began to gain recognition for his own work in 2006, when he started directing performances himself. That same year, he won the Franco Abbiati Prize from Italian music critics. In 2009, he received the Prix du Syndicat de la Critique for best set design for the play "Gertrude - The Cry."

Taraborrelli's style is unique and innovative. He likes to explore the balance and changes in theater, using techniques like suspensions, reversals, and deformations. His set designs often have an abstract feel, using unusual materials and modern technology to create engaging and thought-provoking scenes. His costumes blend tradition with modern styles, helping to express the characters' personalities and emotions.

Beyond theater, Taraborrelli's creativity extends to other spaces, such as his work on the setup of the Aquarium of Genoa and various installations. His art often moves away from traditional theater, both in terms of physical space and conceptual ideas.
