- ...that some of the oldest Egyptian texts known mention the area where Great Bitter Lake is today?--Eptalon (talk) 19:08, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami
- ... that the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, made Japan 2.8 KM closer to North America?" (Please check to make sure this hook hasn't been used in the past) --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 23:38, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

- ..that thousands of years before the discovery of microbiology,Marcus Terentius Varro warned about building a farm near a swamp, because there are minute creatures which cannot be seen by the eyes, but which float in the air and enter the body through the mouth and nose and cause serious diseases? --Eptalon (talk) 22:50, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Daocheng Yading Airport
- ...that Daocheng Yading Airport is the highest civilian airport in the world? --Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 16:30, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
, See the comments I made at judging your WAM article. Once, it's fixed, we are all good! Also I cannot access the source for this DYK hook. SCMP says subscription is needed. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 02:33, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Thegooduser Thank you for the review, I had fixed the issues (per talkpage). The SCMP is not paywall here oddly, apologies, the source reads " land in Daocheng, which, at 4,411 metres altitude, is the highest airport in the world. " (SCMP). Hope this is okay. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:34, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Anyway I added one source, actually used elsewhere, by Reuters. The source is dead now but do see the archived copy (linked in the source) to verify the claims. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:38, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Looks good now! I can finally access the SCMP because I was fast enough, and I didn't scroll much this time in the article. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:39, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
Phantom of Heilbronn
- ...that the Phantom of Heilbronn is a serial killer that was never found? --Eptalon (talk) 19:41, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Eptalon: Can we have some categories at least for this page. Just a comment. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:05, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- Added category "unidentified serial killers (Two other entrries: the Zodiac Killer, and Jack the Ripper)--Eptalon (talk) 22:39, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Will be reviewing the rest soon, hope can be cut some slack as it will be the 1st time I am doing reviews on simple for DYK Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 17:40, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Eptalon Hello, I had read through the entire page, made some copyedits (hope they are okay). Do we have sources of the list of crimes as they seemed unsourced. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:44, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- Added two references, they are German though.--Eptalon (talk) 14:04, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Eptalon Thanks for the good work, it's ok for German sources anyway as we don't need English ones always, had a good read on this, interesting. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 14:09, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Tardigrade
- ...that Tardigrades (pictured) can survive being frozen for more than 30 years? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:03, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yottie "...that Tardigrades (pictured) can still live after being frozen for more than 30 years?" --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 23:27, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
Premier League Golden Boot
- ...that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Dwight Yorke were the first foreign players to win the Premier League Golden Boot during the 1998/99 season? --ShadowBallX2 (Talk Page) 1:55, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- - I think it's an interesting fact, but it does not actually appear in writing in the article! I would add a sentence somewhere in the article and then we're good to go. --Yottie =talk= 19:32, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- I have added it to the article, as well as both of the players pages. Hope this helps it to become a DYK fact. ShadowBallX2 (talk) 21:07, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Is the fact sourced? It would need to be sourced to be on the main page. --IWI (talk) 19:29, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- I just added the source to the main page. ShadowBallX2 (talk) 21:29, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- Still waiting for a response for this. I know it says "Due to the chronic shortage of editors working on DYK, if you see that there are already many pending hooks on this page, please take the opportunity to review them instead. Thank you.", however it has been around 1 1/2 months since I last responded to this, and still no update. Have a great day. ShadowBallX (talk) 01:52, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi ShadowBallX2 - two suggestions for this hook. What is "foreign" in this case? Readers who aren't familiar with the Premier League might not understand. I would also remove "during the 1998/99 season" to make it more concise. Interested readers can easily find out the season from the article. Aranya (talk) 03:07, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

What Goes On (Beatles song)
- ...that "What Goes On" was the only Beatles song to be written by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr together? --IWI (talk) 19:45, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- What about an active formulation:"..song, Lennon, McCarney and Rigo Starr wrote together" - or similar?--Eptalon (talk) 21:37, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
@Eptalon: How about: ...that "What Goes On" was the only Beatles song that John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr wrote together? --IWI (talk) 21:40, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- I would just recommend linking wrote to songwriter for clarity. --Yottie =talk= 19:26, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
Tepexpan man
- ...that the Tepexpan man was a woman? --Eptalon (talk) 16:06, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
Titanic
- ... that the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, where over 1500 people died, led ot the invention of echo sounding, about ten years after the accident?--Eptalon (talk) 21:58, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- - I think it's an interesting hook. Ref is in German, but seems to be from a journal. I would suggest linking "sinking" to sink on wiktionary. I would also remove the middle clause (where over 1500 people died), which makes the sentence complex and doesn't add much to the hook.--Yottie =talk= 07:00, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
Michael D. Higgins
- ... that in 2014, Michael D. Higgins (pictured) became the first President of Ireland to officially visit the United Kingdom? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 11:45, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- - Interesting hook; I know that red-links is no criterion for DYK. Nevertheless, I reduced the number of red-links in the article, by creating some article. I think, we should further reduce their number. Ideally, we have none in the text section, and only a few in the infobox. --Eptalon (talk) 10:56, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Eptalon: What specifically needs resolving? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 04:08, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- @TDKR Chicago 101: I think he wants a few of the red linked articles on the page to be created. --IWI (talk) 19:24, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Eptalon: & @ImprovedWikiImprovment: Would you prefer all the red linked articles or simply just a few (like the ones in the infobox)? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 14:15, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- For my part, I am happy if you add stubs for the people that are linked. If this article needs a link to Sile de Valera, his successor as Misiter of Arts & Culture, can be discussed. (Similarly with the other names). What about: no red-links in the main article text? - Red links in the infobox don't matter that much (at least to me). --Eptalon (talk) 14:37, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Eptalon: What specifically needs resolving? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 04:08, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Valentina Sampaio
- ... that Valentina Sampaio is the first openly transgender model for Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 04:42, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Ian McKellen
- ... that Sir Ian McKellen (pictured) accepted the role of Magneto in the X-Men movies because of McKellen's homosexuality? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 07:17, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- Somewhat confusing hook. Why does his homosexuality relate to him accepting the role? IWI (chat) 14:05, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- I agree, it's confusing. Needs rewriting, I think. The subject per se is interesting. --Yottie =talk= 18:45, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
- ImprovedWikiImprovment & Yottie: In McKellen's article he said that he accepted the role because of his homosexuality because he felt that homosexuals were treated like mutants in our society and that's how the main characters of X-Men are seen as. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 08:26, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- @TDKR Chicago 101: This is almost impossible to convey in a short and simple way. Personally, I don't think it works for DYK. It's an interesting fact, but also a complicated one, if that makes sense. We shall see Yottie's opinion. IWI (chat) 12:47, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- ImprovedWikiImprovment & Yottie: How about this hook: ... that in 1970, Sir Ian McKellen (pictured) was the first actor to share a gay kiss with another male actor on British television? If possible reword it if there's another possible solution. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 04:35, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- good enough for me. I can't think of a reword that wouldn't be confusing. IWI (chat) 13:08, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
- I also think that is better. Yottie =talk= 06:43, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- The article and the hook currently contradict each other. Can you confirm that Edward II was a 1970 work (rather than 1971 as the article appears to claim)? Chenzw Talk 11:42, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Chenzw:: Seeing from IMDb, Amazon and McKellen's website all pin point to it being a 1970 TV film. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 11:48, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- I also think that is better. Yottie =talk= 06:43, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Icelandic Phallological Museum
- ... that the Icelandic Phallological Museum in Reykjavík holds the world's largest collection of penises from many living organisms? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 00:39, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yep. Well sourced and simple enough. Had to double check "collection", but it is on the WP:Basic English combined wordlist, so all good. IWI (chat) 02:32, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Lamborghini Reventón
- ...that the Lamborghini Reventón (pictured) was made to look like the F-22 Raptor? --sithjarjar666 (my contribs | talk to me | email me | see my enwiki profile) 22:37, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- I think "styled" should be changed to something like "made" to be more simple. What do you think? IWI (chat) 22:46, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- Done --sithjarjar666 (my contribs | talk to me | email me | see my enwiki profile) 22:59, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- Good enough for me, unless another user has a better word. IWI (chat) 23:12, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- The connotation of "made" doesn't sit right with me - it seems to imply a certain intention of letting the car pass off as a grounded F-22 Raptor. The reality is the other way around - the existing design of the Raptor influenced the design of the car. Chenzw Talk 11:46, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Chenzw: What do you suggest instead? --sithjarjar666 (my contribs | talk to me | email me | see my enwiki profile) 19:47, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
