Chow Yun-fat

Chow Yun-fat SBS (born May 18, 1955), formerly called Donald Chow,[1] is a Hong Kong actor and singer. He often worked with John Woo in the action movies A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, and Hard Boiled. He also acted in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and has acted in many drama movies.[2]

Career

His parents were farmers and poor. He grew up on an island without electricity.[3][4][5][6] While in college, Chow began training to become an actor with TVB. He first appeared on the 1980 TV series The Bund. Chow appeared in many TV series, but he wanted to act in movies. He acted in a few movies, but they were very bad.[7] He finally became successful when he teamed with John Woo in A Better Tomorrow.
