Mediacom Communications is an American cable television, internet[1] and telephone company. It was founded in July 1995.

The company serves Columbia, Jefferson City and Springfield, Missouri, the Quad Cities of southeast Iowa and western Illinois, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Waterloo in Iowa.[2] It also serves certain areas of Minnesota, Alabama and outlying areas of the Florida Gulf Coast. It serves a total of twenty-two states.[3]

Mediacom was a publicly traded firm. It later went private. It is now[when?] owned by Commisso.[4]

Reputation

The September 28, 2012 edition of PC Magazine said Mediacom was one of the nation's worst 15 fastest internet service providers.[5]

The Des Moines Business Record, in its 2012 Best of Des Moines issue, gave Mediacom the top award for Best Local Internet Service Provider and Best Company Use of Social Media.[6]

In 2016, Mediacom was named the Nation's Top Communications Provider by the publication Cable Fax.[7]
