Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Boyle Davies (born November 2, 2000) is a Canadian professional footballer who plays as a left-back or winger for Bayern Munich and the Canadian national team. He has also played for Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the Major League Soccer (MLS) from 2016 until 2018.

During a 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup match against French Guiana, he scored two goals. In doing this, he became the youngest player to score for the Canada. He also became the youngest player to score in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and was the first player that was born in the 2000s to have scored at a top international tournament.[4] He won the CONCACAF Men's Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022.[5][6] Davies played for Canada at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He scored the first ever goal for Canada at a FIFA World Cup event in a 4-1 loss to Croatia.[7]

Davies is an ambassador for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.[8]
