Armit

The Association for the Development of Medical Information Technologies (Armit[1][2]) (Russian: Ассоциация развития медицинских информационных технологий) is a non-profit organization[3][4], summarizing the experience of Association members and coordinating their activities in the market of medical information technologies (MIT).[5][6][7]

History

The organization was established in 2001 to assist its members in marketing their products, developing[8], standardization, information and hardware compatibility[9], operation of MIT, protection of rights and interests of the Association members[10], supporting domestic producers, assisting medical institutions in the choice of[11], acquisitions[12], maintenance and use of medical computer systems[13] and protecting users from unscrupulous ITI developers and suppliers.[14][15]

Today the association includes more than 60 organizations: these are leading developers of medical information systems, large medical centers.[16] On May 22, 2012 the State Budgetary Institution of Healthcare "Medical Information and Analytical Center" became a member of the Association for the Development of Medical Information Technologies (ARMIT).[3][17]

Then MAYKOR, a group of federal-scale companies in the field of services, IT outsourcing and engineering systems, joined the organization.[18] On January 18, 2012 BIT officially becomes a member of ARMIT[19], the main goal of the Association was to promote the unification of companies and organizations whose activities are related to medical information technologies.[20][21]

Management

The Association is headed by Mikhail Elianov (Russian: Михаил Эльянов), Ph.D. in Control in Medical and Biological Systems, graduate of MIEM.[22][23]

Main areas of activity

  • Participation in the preparation of state health informatization programs
  • Participation of ARMIT members in the Expert Council of the Ministry of Health of Russia on the use of information and communication technologies in the healthcare system[24][25]
  • Creation of a constantly updated public data bank and publication of the annual catalog "Medical Information Technologies", which includes information about 200 Russian development companies and more than 600 medical computer systems created by them[26]
  • Creation and maintenance of the Association's website with systematized information on all aspects of the creation and use of MIT: exhibitions, conferences, seminars[27][28]
  • Thematic reviews; analytics; periodicals and books on MIT; software certification[29]
  • Creation of a single health information space[30][31]
  • Regulations for developers and users of MIT[32][33]
  • Information on the organization and holding of tenders, competitions, etc.; standardization and information compatibility; universities that have specialties related to MIT; scientific activity in the field of MIT, etc[34]
  • Assistance to members of the Association in establishing relations with state authorities and interested organizations, in legal matters, in matters of intellectual property valuation[35][36]

Additional activity

The organization maintains regular ARMIT newsletters on all aspects of digital health development.[37] Also engaged in the preparation of analytical and informational materials[38], conducting surveys on the most pressing problems of health informatization.[39][40]

From 2005 to 2020, the organization hosted the annual MedSoft International Forum.[41][42]

The organization also participates in specialized conferences and symposiums on the most topical issues of digital health "MedSoft-Forum"[43], "MedSoft-Expert", "MedSoft-Science".[44][45] Also engaged in work on information interoperability, standardization and integration of medical computer systems.[46][47]

In addition, the development of the System of Voluntary Certification of Software Used in Health Care[48], as well as test methods, methodological materials for organizing the certification process.[49][50]

Informing and advising medical organizations and authorities on modern developments in the field of digital health[51][52], on optimal methods of their use; establishment of the Information Technology Committee of the National Chamber of Medicine.[53] As well as assisting members of the Association in establishing relations with government agencies and interested organizations[54], in legal matters, intellectual property valuation issues.[55][56]
