Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug

The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO; Russian: Ямало-Ненецкий автономный округ (ЯНАО), Jamalo-Neneckyj Avtonomnyj Okrug (YaNAO); Nenets: Ямалы-Ненёцие автономной ӈокрук, Jamaly-Nenjocije awtonomnoj ŋokruk) or Yamalia (Russian: Ямалия) is a federal subject of Russia and an autonomous okrug of Tyumen Oblast. Its administrative center is the town of Salekhard and its largest city is Noyabrsk. In 2010, 522,904 people lived there.[1]

Geography: The Yamal peninsula has some large holes in the ground that are called gas emissions crater.
