Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer (born 13 August 1970) is a retired English footballer and BBC football pundit. He played for Southampton, Blackburn Rovers, and Newcastle United in the Premier League. He was a striker. He scored more goals than any other player for the England national football team, and more goals in the Premier League than any other player.

Shearer was good at taking penalties – he scored 56 penalties in the Premier League, which is more than any other player.

Shearer managed Newcastle United for the last eight games of the 2008–09 Premier League season, but they were relegated to the Championship for the 2009–10 season.
