2026 Winter Olympics

The 2026 Winter Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXV Olympiad, was an international athletic event held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy from 6 to 22 February 2026.

On 24 June 2019 in Lausanne the International Olympic Committee presented the Italian and the Swedish candidations and, at 18:03, IOC's president Thomas Bach announced the victory of Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo for 47 votes versus 34.

Emblem

The logo of Olympic Games, for the first time, was chosen by the public. On 6 March 2021, during the Sanremo Music Festival, was presented two candidates, "Dado" and "Futura". "Futura" won after the public vote: the emblem consists of a stylized "26", written in a single stroke, imitating ski marks on the snow. Representing "sport, solidarity, and sustainability".

Slogan

Official slogan of the Games was announced on 23 February 2025. This is "IT's Your Vibe": "IT" is also the abbreviation for Italy. Another variants of the slogan highlight the venues (like "Bormio - IT's Your Vibe"), the sports (like "Curling - IT's Your Vibe") and the sportsmen (like "IT's Talent - IT's Your Vibe").

Mascot

Main page: Tina and Milo

On 7 February 2024, during the Sanremo Music Festival, were presented Tina and Milo, the two mascots of the event. Tina and Milo were designed by students of Taverna, Calabria, with 53% of votes. Its name is the abbreviation of the host cities: MILanO and CorTINA. Tina and Milo are two stoats, symbol of innocence and purity. Tina, Olympic mascot, has white coat and moved from the mountains of Italy to the city to discover and explore new things; is passionate about art, music and nature. Milo, Paralympic mascot, has brown coat and is more creative and determined like the sister. It was born without a leg, but used this tail for walking. The different colour of coat represent duality and diversity and, for Organising Commitee, are the "first openly Gen Z mascots". The stoats are accompainied by the Flo, anthropomorfic snowdrops designed by students of Segrate, Lombardy. Flo are symbol of hope and resilience.

Song

During the Sanremo Music Festival, on 5 February 2022, were presented the two final candidates, and a month later was announced the song, "Fino all'alba", singing by the Italian singer Arisa.

On 21 May 2024 the Guardia di Finanza, Italian law enforcement agency, raided the offices of Fondazione Milano-Cortina 2026: association Deloitte was accused of corruption, irregular payments and irregularity of sponsors. Some venues were criticized, too.
